iHeartCountry Executive Gator Was Almost On Real World’s First Season

Jon Brennan just stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to talk about his time on The Real World. That interview sparked iHeartCountry Executive Gator Harrison to tell Bobby Bones a story about the time he auditioned for The Real World... the same season Brennan was on.

Gator almost made it on The Real World: Los Angeles, but MTV producers chose Brennan instead. It was 20 years ago when he was working on pop radio in Nashville and the Program Director suggested he try out for The Real World to get publicity for the station. He filled out an application and went to Atlanta to do an in-person interview. He didn’t meet any of the other contestants and was put in a room in front of a bunch of producers. They turned on a camera and asked him to answer questions about himself, but he was not chosen. At the time he didn’t know what exactly he auditioned for because reality TV was so new. Looking back, he’s happy he did not make it on the show because he feels like he won in real life. That audition in Atlanta ended up being the first date with his future wife and they have been married for 25 years now!

Gator also auditioned for Road Rules and didn’t get chosen for that either. He did have a 17-second cameo on the show Nashville, as himself. Lunchbox also auditioned to be on The Real World when he was in college and claims he got a call back from the producers but missed it because he was in class.
