Lunchbox got a phone call and wasn’t paying attention, so he picked up. It started going into a voice recording saying they were about to charge his credit card for a MacBook he was purchasing on his Amazon account. He hung up because he thought it was a scam. They called back and left a voicemail of an automated message that said they were calling to authorize the payment for the recent order of an Apple MacBook Pro on his Amazon Account and if he did not authorize the payment to press one to talk to a customer service representative. It even included hold music in the beginning to make it sound more official. It made him think that he might’ve made the purchase, so he checked his Amazon account to make sure but saw nothing. He never called back but thought if he clicked one and talked to someone that’s how they would steal his info.
Amy also shared a new scam alert from her friend who owns an Airbnb in Nashville that is always busy with guests and cleaning crews. Something happened with their last guests as they were checking out at the same time cleaning people were walking in. They had all the cleaning supplies in their hands and were able to walk right into the house because the door was open from the guests leaving at the same time. The guests thought it was the cleaning crew, so they let them in but then the real cleaning crew showed up a few minutes later. The fake cleaning crew that showed up ran away because they knew they were about to be busted. The fake cleaning crew must’ve cased the house and figured out it was a rental and when the checkout time was so they waited outside until they saw people leaving so they could swoop in at the same time and try to steal anything that was leftover. This is a PSA if you have rental properties to be aware of this or if you’re leaving a place you rented to not just let anyone in!
