Braces, Lisps, and Crushes: Amy’s Son Navigates 8th Grade Life

Amy shared that her son, who’s in 8th grade, just got braces. Something he’s actually been asking for over the past few years. After finally getting the orthodontist appointment, it was confirmed that he needed them. But now that they’re on, the excitement has turned into a little nervousness.

He’s developed a bit of a lisp and suddenly started worrying about how the braces might affect what girls think of him. Amy said he’s having a hard time wrapping his head around the idea of wearing them for a year and a half to two years. Bobby jumped in and told her not to worry, once those braces come off, her son’s confidence is going to skyrocket. He even shared that when he first started making money, he got veneers. His teeth were shaved down, and for two months, he had to live with temporary teeth. It wasn’t the best look, but he got through it. Bobby laughed remembering that he had a girlfriend during that time, although Amy joked that maybe that’s why they broke up after two months.

Meanwhile, Eddie chimed in saying none of his kids are even close to that stage yet. None of them talk about girls, let alone have girlfriends. So for now, Amy’s son is leading the charge in the teenage milestone department, braces, nerves, and all.
