The Time Raymundo Lived At The Studio (And Why We’re Asking If He’s Back)

There was a time on the Bobby Bones Show, and this is truly not a bit, when Raymundo actually lived in our radio studio. Not because he couldn’t afford a place, and not because he was being underpaid. He had a full-time producer salary and was making enough to live somewhere normal. He just chose to quietly make the studio his home and hid it from everyone.

Ray would sleep under the console where all the equipment sits or crash on a couch in the old green room. Every morning he’d wake up early, get dressed before anyone arrived, and pretend he had just shown up for work. He even had mail delivered to the building. And according to him, that mail still occasionally shows up. When we asked how long he had lived here, Ray said a month. Lunchbox immediately corrected that to “three months,” because in Lunchbox math, whatever Ray claims, you double it. The truth is somewhere in there, but the whole situation started because Ray and Lunchbox had stopped living together. Depending on who you ask, Ray was either kicked out or he voluntarily moved out. Their stories don’t match, which tracks perfectly with the chaos of their roommate days. They used to fight constantly, Ray rarely left his bedroom, and he even kept a mini-fridge in there that leaked through the ceiling. Dirty dishes piled up, drama was nonstop, and somehow both of them still insist the living arrangement “was awesome.”

During this whole period, Ray was also dating, which is hilarious considering he was technically homeless. He would bring girls back to the studio, call it his “apartment,” and they would laugh because they assumed it was a joke. It wasn’t. Add in the fact that this was around the time he lost his truck due to gambling debt, and Ray’s life was basically the plot of the most chaotic sitcom you’ve ever seen. Eventually he started dating the woman who would become his wife, moved in with her within a week, and thankfully settled into a more stable life.

All of that backstory is important because we recently had to ask him on air: “Ray… are you sleeping in the studio again?” He insisted no, he has a house in the country, a wife, a mortgage, the whole adult setup. But then Eddie shared that someone claimed they regularly see Ray brushing his teeth and washing his face in the kitchen sink early in the morning, which is exactly what he used to do back when he lived here. Ray said that’s normal, because he brushes three times a day. Most of us do not brush our teeth at work daily, much less three times, but Ray insists that if anything, we’re the weird ones.

We also asked him about showering at the gym, another habit from his studio-living era. He said he doesn’t do that anymore, mostly because he’s not running as much and also because he finds the gym showers “creepy,” like too many guys are looking at him or trying to talk to him. His explanation only raised more questions, but he swears everything is fine.

So after all of that, the final takeaway is this: Ray says he’s okay. He’s not living at the studio. He’s not secretly squatting. He’s just brushing his teeth at work and sometimes splashing water on his hair. According to him, life is good. We’ll choose to believe him… for now.
