Mike Fisher To End Retirement, Return to Nashville Predators

Mike Fisher is “all in.”

The former Nashville Predators captain will return to the team that he helped lead to a near Stanley Cup win in 2017, he announced during a press conference Wednesday (Jan. 31) at Bridgestone Arena.

Mike will end his retirement to return for the remainder of the Predators’ season, one that so far appears to be heading toward another historical end.

“The more I thought about…the opportunity, how good this team is, thought about the run last year, what could be… The closer I got towards [making the decision], the more I thought it would be such a great opportunity,” the No. 12 centreman told press.

Mike added he has “the blessing from family and [his] wife” Carrie Underwood to return—but not so much from 3-year-old son Isaiah.

“I asked my son, and he’s like ‘no.’ He didn’t even know what he was saying no to,” he joked. “Carrie kept asking me every day what I was going to do. She wanted me to do it, and she’s usually right.”

David Poile, the team's General Manager, called Mike’s comeback a “big day.”

There is so far “no timetable” for Mike’s first official return to "Smashville," Poile says, but the hope is Mike will be game ready for playoff season in April.

Currently, the Nashville Predators lead the Central Division in the Western Conference with 29 wins and 12 losses.
