Carrie Underwood Shares Single Title, Cover & More in New Blog

The new era of Carrie Underwood has officially begun.

In a candid new blog post on her website, the country megastar reveals the first single from her forthcoming sixth-studio album is called “Cry Pretty.”

Carrie co-wrote the song with Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose, and Lori McKenna, popular Nashville songwriters who, together, call themselves the Love Junkies.

“I joined one of their writing sessions last year to see if we could come up with some magic…and we did," she writes in the blogpost. "The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can’t hold them back. It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life. It’s emotional. It’s real. And it ROCKS!”

“Cry Pretty” is among the first-ever batch of songs that Carrie had a hand in not only writing and singing but also producing.

“I’ve always been lucky to have a voice in the writing and recording process, but this is the first time I am this involved in the production of my music,” she says of co-producing with partner David Garcia, whom she met in a songwriting session last year. “It’s been challenging and incredibly rewarding to be involved in every aspect from start to finish. David has been an amazing teacher and partner, and I’m so proud of what we have created.”

Carrie concludes the post writing she “can’t wait to start this new chapter” and even teases a new tour to come, “but that’s a blog for another day,” she writes.

“Cry Pretty” drops worldwide tomorrow (April 11) at 6 A.M. ET. Look for the world television premiere of the song when Carrie performs it live Sunday on the 53rd ACM Awards on CBS.
