Kate Middleton Made An Unexpected Appearance In A Random Pub

Even Duchesses have to make rest stops sometimes. While traveling on the "the notoriously busy A3 trunk road" in London with her 3-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte, Kate Middleton had to make an unexpected stop at a random pub to use the loo. Royalty, they're just like us!

According to The Daily Mail, Kate and Charlotte surprised pubgoers when they popped in to use the restroom. "It just goes to show that the royals are like any other family," one eyewitness told the magazine.  Another said, "I was sitting in my usual chair and when I looked up I saw Kate Middleton, I mean the Duchess of Cambridge and her daughter, Princess Charlotte."  A third guest chimed in, saying the mother-daughter duo "seem very nice, totally normal. Princess Kate was holding her daughter's hand."

Can you imagine grabbing a bit to eat at your local pub and then, out of nowhere, two princesses walk in? Pretty exciting stuff!

While, yes, this quick pit stop shows that Kate and Charlotte are like the rest of us plebians, there's also a hint of ~royal grandeur~ in this story. Before coming into the pub, a plainclothes detective from the Royal Protection Squad checked the place out to make sure it was safe. Once the safety scan was completed, the detective escorted them through the pub.

This rest stop most likely occurred on their way to or from a secret mother-daughter outing to see The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House. People reports that Kate and Charlotte attended an early sneak-peak of the Christmas show by the Royal Ballet. Since it wasn't an official outing, though, neither Kensington Palace or The Royal Opera House commented on the story.

It makes sense that Kate would want to bring Charlotte to see The Nutcracker. She recently spoke about how excited Charlotte and her older brother, Prince George, are getting excited for Christmas. "They’ve started all their Christmas songs and Christmas trees are going up," Kate told a fan during a visit to Leicester City. "It was really sweet." It's sure to be a special holiday this year, as well, because it's their first Christmas as a family of five.
