Kane Brown Opens Up About His Scary Golf Accident, New Music, and Clearing the Air on "Having No Friends"

The Golf Ball That Nearly Changed Everything
While golfing with friends, Kane was standing about 40 yards away from another player when his caddy suddenly ducked. That reaction was enough to make Kane turn around — and turning around may have saved him from a far more serious injury.
A three-wood shot that was supposed to go a completely different direction sliced right at him, striking him directly in the side of the head. He described it like "a grenade went off," with ringing in his ears and so much blood that he briefly feared the worst, especially since a friend had gone into a coma the year before after being hit in the head with a softball.
After a few tense minutes, his hearing came back and he realized his ear had essentially split open. Doctors later told him that if the ball had hit an inch forward or backward, the outcome could have been very different — and that they were initially concerned about a possible broken bone in his ear. A CAT scan ultimately confirmed everything looked fine.
Kane only turned around because of his caddy's reaction to a different shot. Had he stayed facing forward, the ball likely would have hit the back of his head instead.
Setting the Record Straight on "No Friends in the Industry"
Bobby brought up a comment that had been circulating in headlines — that Kane said he doesn't have friends in the music industry. Kane clarified the context got twisted. What he meant was that he doesn't have a lot of friends he can casually call up to hang out and grab a beer with, largely because touring and promotion schedules make it hard for artists to spend everyday time together.
He pointed to duos like Morgan Wallen and HARDY as an example of the kind of close, hang-out friendship that's rare to find in the industry — not that he's isolated. He also noted that longtime friends like Lauren Alaina reached out concerned after the headlines made the rounds, which is part of why he wanted to clear it up.
New Album Pushed to March — And He's Excited About It
Fans hoping for new music this fall will have to wait a bit longer. Kane's album, originally slated for October, is now targeting a March release. He explained the delay came down to simply not feeling connected to the direction of the music yet.
He's been chasing an old-school sound — story-driven songs with vintage influences, even '50s-style flourishes — rather than forcing the album to sound sonically cohesive. After getting pushback from people telling him his albums have never sounded fully cohesive anyway, he leaned into embracing that variety.
Among the new material: a cover of Shania Twain's "Whose Bed Has Your Boots Been Under?" (with Shania contributing backup vocals) and "Woman," a song he calls one of the most personal on the album. He described "Woman" as one of those rare songs that came together almost instantly, inspired by a quiet moment at home with his wife, Katelyn.
Fitness, Food, and the Honesty Behind It
Kane got candid about his ongoing struggle with fitness. After a bodybuilding phase, he's found it difficult to get back into that mindset — not because of the workouts, but because of the food. He said he eats around 200-205 grams of protein a day and has spent three years chasing a specific physique he still hasn't achieved, admitting the only way he thinks he could get there is with steroids, which he's not willing to do.
He also touched on the balancing act between eating enough to build muscle and staying lean enough to see definition, a frustration Bobby jokingly related to as well.
Life, Money, and Staying Grounded
Kane got real about the financial learning curve of fame. He recalled the shock of realizing how much taxes actually took out of his check once he started making real money, plus the early days of overdrafting his account over something as small as a McChicken sandwich. Now, on the other end of that journey, he joked about no longer knowing what things like tires cost — often getting them gifted these days.
But he also pushed back on any idea that fame means life is always easy, revealing he's recently had to handle plenty of normal, unglamorous tasks around the house — including cleaning bathrooms — as a reminder to stay grounded.
A Sweet Nod to Friendship
Before wrapping up, Amy brought up Kane's playful videos with longtime friend Lauren Alaina, calling out a recent one where Lauren narrated her every move around the house while secretly filming his reaction. Kane spoke warmly about his friendship with Lauren, her husband Cam, and their daughter, closing the interview on a lighthearted note after some heavier moments earlier in the conversation.
