TMSG: World War II Vet Still Delivers Meals On Wheels At 97

Being 97-years-old hasn’t slowed Charlie Cunningham down. The Tennessee veteran spent years as a pilot of fighter planes during World War II and now he’s still serving others by delivering dinners for Meals on Wheels.

Cunningham brings deliveries to eight people a week, and he does it all driving his sporty silver Mustang. He says, “The old folks are delighted to see me come.”

He also serves as an inspiration to the folks he visits and brings food to. “It’s an encouragement,” explains 90-year-old Joe Smith, who served in the Navy during WWII. “I’m having trouble moving around the room, and Charlie’s out there driving!”
