In late February 2018, Clerks Director Kevin Smith nearly died after a heart attack during a stand-up comedy routine. He posted the story to his Instagram page:
Since the super scary incident, Smith decided to turn his life around by losing weight. His idea? Just eat potatoes for two weeks. In just nine days, Smith lost 17 pounds.
Smith isn't the only one to follow the "potato diet." The diet originated from the book Presto!: How I Made Over 100 Pounds Disappear and one of its more famous advocates is YouTuber Andrew Flinders Taylor who lost 117 pounds only eating plain potatoes for 365 days, according to Men's Health.
Smith says he'll just stick to potatoes for two weeks and then phase in vegetables for the next few months, according to E!.
