Ronnie Dunn Recalls Being Neighbors With George Jones

Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn called into The Bobby Bones Show today (Jan. 26) to talk about their Reboot 2023 Tour, once being neighbors with George Jones and answered uncomfortable questions from listeners.

Brooks & Dunn announced the next leg of their Reboot 2023 tour with Scotty McCreery and Megan Moroney opening. Each of the shows will feature 16-19 of their biggest hits. In 2021 they made their return to touring for the first time in 10 years, which Ronnie Dunn said made him feel refreshed. Now, he enjoys touring more than ever. The last tour they did he had the most fun he’s ever had. He thinks it’s because he doesn’t feel the pressure anymore when he performs and is able to just go on stage and have fun.

When asked if he ever had too much to drink before going on stage, he said he was always able to keep it under control and would save it for after the show. He recalled a time when he was on tour with a bunch of other big country artists and after the show, they’d take the tour bus to whatever local bar was around and perform there too.

Dunn watched George and Tammy on Showtime and thought it was phenomenal. He isn’t sure how accurate it is, but he loved watching their story. Especially since George Jones was once his neighbor when he first moved to Nashville. He didn’t know him personally but said towards the end of his life he was an old grumpy man.

He answered some awkward questions listeners sent in: Which one is Kix Brooks, and which one is Ronnie Dunn? He said Brooks is the one wearing the hat. Dunn doesn't have his voice insured so if it loses it, he’s done singing. Him and Kix Brooks are both equally rich and they have never had a fistfight after a show. They also text each other all the time and Dunn says he’s more of a texter than Brooks.
