Carrie Underwood joined iHeartRadio's Bobby Bones Show in Nashville today. This marks the first interview she has done, since returning to the stage, after a fall that left her telling fans, she might look "a little bit different."
Bones asked the "Cry Pretty" singer, "Your wrist, what happened?" Carried said she fell down on her right wrist, and broke it. "The most frustrating part was trying to work out with a broken wrist, and just how much it can throw off your world."
When asked exactly how the fall happened, she shares, "I was taking the dogs out, and just tripped. I went to catch myself and just missed a step. If I had fallen anywhere else I would be perfectly fine, but it was one step that messed everything up."
No one had seen Carrie outside of a few photos on social media until Sunday night's ACM Awards. She didn't walk the red carpet, and had fans concerned at what she was going to look like. Bones told her "I don't see it." Underwood said she's been very fortunate in the healing process. When the accident happened the music industry was shutting down for the holidays, so she was able to take time and heal.
I've been very fortunate in the healing process. I mean, I was lucky that when it happened everything was kind of shutting down in the music world, and we had the holidays and stuff like that. But I was at a point where I didn't know how things were going to end up. I didn't know what was going to go on. I didn't know what it was going to heal like.
There were a lot of uncertainties for her around this injury. She wasn't sure how it was going to heal, and in the end, how it was going to look. Bobby asked her, "Where did you fall on your face?" Carrie pointed to her mouth and said, "Around my mouth. Yeah." She also shared that, she wasn't sure if the scar would ever go away.
I mean, you just don't know how things are going to heal or end up. I feel like it was important to me as I started resuming my life again, and going to the grocery store, and taking my kid to school and stuff like that, I was like, "Okay. Somebody's going to creep on me at the grocery store and people are going to be like, "What happened?" When they post it on Instagram."
Bobby asked her what her son Isaiah said to her, and Carrie said that now he's sweet. "For a while, I was worried he would be scared of me. Now if I put makeup on, he's like, Mommy your boo-boo is all gone." How sweet is he?
Carrie also shared that she's in the studio finishing up her new album Cry Pretty, that's set to be released in September.
