4-year-old Shiba Inu pup named Daiki was safely reunited with his owners Monday night all thanks to a stranger.

Daiki ended up in the middle of FDR Drive on the northbound lane of the busy parkway near the Manhattan Bridge. A cellphone video captured by Steven M. Caruso of Brooklyn showed traffic at a standstill as the rescuer kneeled next to Daiki in the middle lane.

The mystery hero handed the pup off to NYPD Sgt. Carlos Nieves without giving his name, but noted that he's actually afraid of dogs. He just felt he needed to help the pup. Nieves followed up on Twitter sharing that Daiki was reunited with his family and everyone was very happy, and thankful.
