TMSG: Soldier Surprises Mom At Her Swearing In Ceremony

Erika Benning was already having a big day as she was being prepared to be sworn in as the Irving Police Department's newest officer. That was until she got an even bigger surprise right before being sworn in.

Her 21-year-old son Army Sgt. Giovanni Pando, who she hadn't seen in over two years because he was stationed overseas, arrived at the ceremony to surprise his mother. In his surprise arrival, he was able to pin the badge on her uniform. This was all thanks to the help of Benning's husband and the police department coordinating the perfect surprise.

The police department in Dallas, Texas shared the moment on Facebook writing,

"All swearing-in ceremonies are special but every once in a while one tugs at your heart strings a little more than others. Yesterday, at Officer Benning's swearing-in she was surprised to find out that her son, who has been stationed over seas and has not seen in over 2 years, would be the one pinning her badge."
