The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City just shared some special news. On Wednesday last week, they held a celebration to mark the adoption of Merrick, a pup who patiently waited in the shelter for 5 years for his perfect match.
Merrick was the subject of social media campaigns and plastered on billboards in an effort to find him a home when all other means failed. The big effort was a success as that's where his new owner, Jordan Nussbaum first saw his face.
Nussbaum adopted the pup along with his girlfriend Amy and told KMBC, "It was love at first sight. What they wanted was someone without kids who had a lot of energy to keep up with him because he's a large dog. I just seem like I was destined to be with him."
The shelter shared on their Facebook, "Merrick found his perfect match- his new mom and dad, Jordan and Amy, are everything he has wished for and more! We could not be more happy, excited, proud, or thankful to everyone who shared his story."
