Kacey Musgraves Vows To Break 'Disgusting' Cycle Caused By Racism

Kacey Musgraves is speaking out following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who was killed by a police officer in Minneapolis. On Monday (June 1), the country singer turned to social media to share her thoughts on racism in America, vowing to take action.

"It's been hard to find the words to adequately convey how outrages and sad I am," she wrote. "WHITE PEOPLE HAVE HAD IT SO F—ING WRONG SINCE THE BEGINNING and I will do whatever I can I help break the DISGUSTING, damaging cycle racism and systemic privilege causes. I will not be a bystander."

Musgraves then shared a list of resources and ways her followers can help make a difference whether it be through signing petitions, donations, or contacting elected officials.

Musgraves is one of many celebrities and artists speaking out following the killing of Floyd as riots and protests continue around the country. Tim McGraw, Kane Brown, Dan + Shay, Old Dominion and more have also expressed similar sentiments on social media.

Jimmie Allen was another country artist who expressed his concern for the situation and also for his own young 5-year-old son, Aadyn. "The continued non value of life towards black men in America concerns me," his statement read. "As a black man and a father raising a black boy I'm worried. The uncertainty of his safety turns my stomach.

As he concluded his post, Allen left readers with a challenge. It reads, "I challenge everyone to love each other and let our hearts speak louder than the injustice. Love so hard that it suffocates the hate."
