Ashley Cooke delivered a fiery visual to bring her “no-looking-back breakup anthem” to life on Wednesday (April 1).
The Patrick Tracy-directed video for “xs” features Cooke, 28, wearing a shimmering gown on the beach after sunset. The single shot focuses on a giant X set ablaze on the shore as Cooke declares never to return to an ex who crossed too many lines with her. “Cooke ultimately embodies an effortless confidence and a triumphant sense of reclaimed freedom,” states a press release issued Wednesday.
“Whiskey nights wandering eyes make messes/ Hiding phones, ‘I don’t knows’ make questions/ Towns talk and the truth starts spreading/ And don’t you know crossing lines makes Xs/ Oh don’t deny I know you did it/ Oh doesn’t matter how you spin it/ Want me back after that forget it/ Don’t you know crossing lines makes Xs”
Cooke teamed up with Will Weatherly, Ashley Gorley and Emily Weisband to write “xs,” which was produced by Dann Huff. The breakup song is Cooke’s first to release since she delivered the ace sessions, a 6-track acoustic collection featuring songs from the project she released in November 2025. Cooke’s ace included “baby blues,” “the f word,” “the hell you are,” and more. Watch the new “xs” music video here:
