All of Nashville stops by the studio on this week’s episode of 4 Things with Amy Brown! Amy brings three guests on the show to talk all things love, health, and beauty.
Back by popular demand, Amy’s husband Ben, makes an appearance to talk about the first time he said I love you. During their conversation they talk about the importance of words and give us more insight into their love story. (Did you know Ben tried to date Amy’s older sister?!)
Next up, is celebrity trainer Erin Oprea who lets us know why you should stop weighing yourself and throw out your scale.
In a previous episode, Amy told us how she went microblading and absolutely HATED IT. With two problems on her face, she sought help from cosmetic tattoo artist, Meegan Pearson.
Amy starts off the podcast with some good news, she’s officially an Amazon influencer*! All of the products she talks about in her podcasts can be found here, including the weighted blanket in today’s episode. If you suffer from anxiety or stress, you’ll definitely want to listen to this one! *Note: Amy receives a percentage of sales if any of her favorite things are purchased through this link or on her Amazon page!

Thing 1: The first time Amy’s husband said “I love you”
Amy’s Husband, Ben, stops by the studio for the second time this month! Instead of talking about PMS, the couple sits down to chat about the word ‘love’ and their expedited wedding. As a kid, Ben’s mom would tell him to be careful of who he loves. As he grew older, he knew the only people he’d say ‘I love you’ to would be his mom, his sister, and his future wife.
Amy and Ben have known each other their whole lives but didn’t reunite until being set up at Dr. Kevin Lewis’ wedding. (Last week, Dr. Lewis made an appearance to talk about the Placebo effect, check it out here). Before the two reconnected, Amy said ‘I love you’ to two boyfriends in college, but don’t worry - Ben doesn’t hold it against her - you can’t help who you love!
While the couple were only dating for a few months, Ben finally said ‘I love you’ after he popped the question. When Amy asks why he didn’t wait until after they said, ‘I do’, he tells her that it was only fair to make his intentions known.Love is a special word and the couple hope to instill this mindset into their kids.
And speaking of their kids, the next time Ben is on the show the couple will be talking about infertility and adoption. Until then, you can hear Ben talk about how to handle PMS like a man.
Thing 2: Throw out that scale! Here’s why you shouldn’t weigh yourself
Do you remember the last time you weighed yourself? Amy hasn’t in five months and she has never felt better thanks to celebrity trainer, Erin Oprea.
Author of “The 4x4 Diet”, @erinoprea is well-known in Nashville thanks to her list of celebrity clients like Carrie Underwood and Kacey Musgraves. Erin talks with Amy about why the scale is the last thing you should worry about when trying to get into a healthy mindset.
Erin reminds us that we’re all so much more than just a number on the scale. If your clothes start to feel a little tighter that’s your indicator to cut back on the junk food. As long as you’re working out, eating clean, and dancing a lot - you’ll feel so much better about yourself.
If you’re ready to make a healthy change in your life, join Amy and Erin by downloading the stepbet app by March 3rd to be a part of the 5 week step challenge. Use the game code: erinopera, to be a part of the team.
Thing 3: Microblading
Amy’s first experience with microblading didn’t go so well (see above) – find out more about what happened here.
So Amy turned to Kelsea Ballerini’s eyebrow connoisseur, Meegan Pearson, for help! Eyebrows frame our faces and as we age, they begin to fade away. In this week’s episode, Meegan talks to Amy about the right way to try out this semi-permanent solution to maintain your brows.
Meegan, worked in hair and makeup for six years before becoming a cosmetic tattoo artist, and says if there’s anything she’s learned, it’s to not follow brow trends when microblading! This eyebrow technique provides a soft natural look to your brows that is meant for your face shape. If you want to try wild feather brows or crazy arches, go with something less permanent like a pencil.
Whether you have to get ready early in the morning, participate in intense workouts or want to go into the pool, your brows will not be going anywhere throughout the day.

Thing 4: Weighted Blankets
If you’re someone who deals with constant stress or anxiety, weighted blankets are a great alternative to traditional medicine.
Although they can be a bit expensive, weighted blankets can help you feel more grounded. Studies show that the extra weight can reduce nervous system activity while also boosting your body’s serotonin levels.
There are DIY weighted blankets out there, but if you’re not crafty, Amy has her blanket linked on her Amazon shop. (When ordering, be sure to get a blanket that is about 5-10% of your body weight.)
