Jason Aldean called into The Bobby Bones Show to talk about his Toby Keith tribute at the ACM Awards, shared the cool memorabilia he has, talked about his song “Let Your Boys Be Country” and more!
At the 59th ACM Awards, Aldean paid tribute to the late Toby Keith and performed his song “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” He and Keith were friends, so he felt pressure to give him a tribute that he deserved for the career he had. It was a big night for Keith's family, so he didn’t want to mess up his performance and wanted to give him the sendoff he deserved. After his performance, Keith’s wife texted him with her approval so that was all that mattered for him.
Aldean revealed he has a lot of cool memorabilia in his house. He’s a big fan of sports so he’s collected items like a signed basketball from Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson signed boxing gloved and a Kobe Bryant signed jersey that was gifted to him before he passed. The awards and plaques he gets for his music are a great honor for him and he displays those around his house as well.
Aldean has 28 number one songs and his latest is “Let Your Boys Be Country.” When he first heard that song it reminded him of his son. The message of the song is what he wants the world to look like for his son moving forward as he gets older. Aldean grew up like that and now having a son of his own, he wants the same things for him. A reason he recorded the song is because he knew a lot of parents felt the same way, and the response he’s gotten from fans has been overwhelming.
