If anyone has experience with bullying, it's Bobby. He talks about it all the time on the radio and even delved deeper into stories in his book, Bare Bones.
A mom from Virginia called about her 7-year-old son who is being bullied at school for being small, smart and wearing hand-me-downs -- something that sounded super familiar to Bobby.
"That kid sounds just like me," Bobby said. "My grandma told me bullies pick on you because they don't feel good about themselves."
She asked Bobby for advice on how to handle the situation and help her son but he did more than that. He told her he'd send a birthday gift to her son who is turning eight next week.
"I was one of the poorest kids in a poor town," Bobby explained. "What got me through that was knowing that one day everybody who picked on me would say 'Man, I wish I didn't pick on him because look what he became.'"
He said he focused his energy on being successful and then helping kids that are being bullied when he got older.
