Sometimes judges will give punishments to wrongdoers that's unusual from the fines or prison time.
Defendant Daren Young was ordered in February to stop contacting his ex, but two months later he called and texted her over 144 times within three hours. He was then arrested and spent 157 days in jail.
At his sentencing on Friday, Young was placed on two years probation, hit with $2,400 in fines, 200 hours of community service + one unusual punishment. Judge Rhona Loo ordered the defendant to write more than 140 nice things about his ex-girlfriend. Judge Rhonda Loo's specific words to defendant Daren Young were,
“For every nasty thing you said about her, you’re going to say a nice thing. No repeating words.”
