Bobby Bones Show Songs Of The Week - June 1st

Each day during the week Bobby Bones of The Bobby Bones Show chooses a "Song Of The Day" in country music. The week of June 1st brings Ryan Hurd, Sugarland, Brothers Osborne and Ryan Hurd.

Check out the five songs below and their stories.

Ryan Hurd "Diamonds Or Twine"

Hurd released his new single "Diamonds or Twine" on March 23rd, 2018 as a wedding gift to his now wife, Maren Morris. Hurd wrote the song with Laura Veltz and Mark Trussel before he proposed to Morris in 2017. The song describes a love that will deal with everything that life has to throw at them. He played the song for Morris the night they got engaged in Michigan on a lake dock.

Sugarland "Babe"

Sugarland's latest single "Babe" was co-written by Taylor Swift and Train’s Patrick Monahan. The two wrote the song while Swift's Red album was in the works. Swift reached out to Sugarland after finding out they were getting back together in 2018 saying "hey, I have a song." Swift says of the song, “It’s a song that I wrote with Pat Monahan when I was making the Red album, and I’m so happy that it gets its own life. I’m so happy that Sugarland wanted to record it and has done such a great job with it, and I’m so stoked I get to sing on it too."

Ray wrote this new single with Kelly Archer and Nathan Spicer. He said he wanted to write something different. He told Taste of Country, "Being an up-and-coming artist, I needed something that stands out and catches people."

Brothers Osborne "Shoot Me Straight"

TJ and John Osborne wrote this song at a beach house in Florida. They shared that the song started off as a ballad, but decided to add a "lick" they had been throwing around for several writing sessions. The combination of the song and the lick made it a song they "knew instantly that would be a song we'd record."
