TMSG Customers Buy Out Donut Shop Pastries So Owner Can Be With Ailing Wife

John and Stella Chhan have had their donut shop Donut City in Seal Beach, California for the last 28 years, rarely taking a day off and always opening at 4:30 a.m.

Stella though had to stop coming to work because she suffered a brain aneurysm and has had to recover at a nursing care facility. John was devastated but had to continue to run the shop by himself. He would then go see his wife once he was done each and every day.

One of Chhan's regular customers heard about their situation and came up with an idea: if everyone in the community bought more of the restaurants donuts, then John could close early and spend more time with his wife. After posting the idea to a community social media page, locals immediately stepped up to the plate to buy donuts, croissants, and muffins by the dozen.

Over the course of the following weeks, John has sold out of pastries several hours earlier than usual and sometimes he would even be able to close their store at 10:00 a.m.
