TMSG: Hockey Fan Gets Kidney Transplant After Donor Sees Sign At Game

Kelly Sowatsky was determined to find someone who could give her a kidney. She decided to write on a sign the details and held it at a Pittsburgh Penguins hockey game. Another Penguins fan spotted the sign and felt moved to help. Jeff Lynd, a teacher, and fellow Penguins fan from Delaware sent Kelly a Facebook message and offered to get tested as a donor.

Lynd turned out to be a positive, perfect match for Sowatsky. Now, nine months later, Sowatsky has a new kidney thanks to her fellow hockey-loving friend.

“What he’s done for me is something that words can’t express really, like the gratitude that I have," Sowatsky says of Lynd. "I just have a higher regard for the chance I have been given.”
