TMSG: Customer Tips $10K Day Before Restaurant's Coronavirus-Linked Layoffs

Ross Edlund owns the Skillets restaurant chain in Naples, Florida. Just before the state's eateries were ordered to close their dining rooms due to the coronavirus pandemic, a customer left a massive tip.

The man, who is a regular customer but no one is sure of his name, handed a wad of cash to Edlund. That wad off cash was $10,000 and meant that the 20 staff members at the restaurant were getting $500 each right before getting laid off. The $10K tip was the most generous act his workers had seen, but Edlund says it's not the only one. Many servers received big tips right before closing and they continue to get them as regular customers pick up curbside orders.

Edlund told Naples Daily News,

"It's funny because we have regulars who have been coming in forever, and they're out friends but we don't always know their names. We know their faces, their orders, their favorite tables, but we don't know exactly who they are."
