Dustin Lynch and MacKenzie Porter just released their collaboration together on Lynch's song "Thinking 'Bout You." They stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to talk about the new collaboration, share the first performance of the song, and talk about both of their careers.
"Thinking 'Bout You" was on Dustin Lynch's album Tullahoma as a collaboration with Lauren Alaina. Unfortunately, Lynch and Alaina couldn't find a good time to release the song that would work for both of their schedules. Being this is Lynch's first ever collaboration he's put out, he wanted to do the song justice. So Lynch decided it was best to hold blind auditions for his new collaborating partner. He had his team collect all the submissions and put them in a list without any names showing. He chose people only based on their sound with the song. He admitted that he kept going to back to one version over and over again, which turned out to be Mackenzie Porter's.
Porter is the most played country artist in Canada, and comes from a very musical family. Her dad and brother both sing, as well as her grandmother who plays the piano. Her brother actually won the Canadian version of American Idol. She found a passion for music because she grew up on a cattle ranch. She admitted that there was nothing for them to do out where they lived, so music was the perfect option. Porter also acts, she was a character for three seasons on the TV Show Travelers.
Because of the ongoing pandemic, Lynch shared he's only been able to play Opry shows this year. But he's been celebrating some monumental moments in his career. It's been 10 years since Lynch put out first song "Cowboys and Angels." With the 10 year anniversary happening, Lynch often thinks back to all the firsts he got to experience with the song and going on the road for tour.
Dustin Lynch and MacKenzie Porter performed "Thinking 'Bout You" for the first time, and Lynch also performed his first hit single and his most recent, "Cowboys And Angels," and "Momma's House."
