Justin Long On His New Movie + Voicing For Alvin In 'Alvin & The Chipmunks'

Actor Justin Long known for his many different roles in He's Just Not That Into You, Accepted, and Dodgeball, to name a few, is making his director debut this weekend with Lady At The Manor. He stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to talk about the project along with all of his previous movie roles.

Lady At The Manor is out this weekend and it's very personal to Long. He worked on it with his brother and it's the first time he's ever been this invested into a project. They wrote it together and Long directed and produced it. They had the idea for the movie back in July 2018 and it's been in the works ever since. The hardest part for them was coming up with the outline and the plot, but they knew their favorite comedies were "odd couple comedies" and they like when a comedy is really clear. Long and his brother's writing style is so similar that when Long went to see the movie this week, he doesn't remember which scenes he wrote versus which scenes his brother wrote. The film is about a woman getting a job she's wildly unqualified for to act out the "lady at the manor." The lady at the manor doesn't like who they picked and comes back in ghost form to haunt the woman who got the job. They make this clear "odd couple" and Long said it's the kind of movie people can laugh at and have a fun diversion for an hour and a half.

Long has had several acting gigs in his career. According to him, he's been the most recognized for his roles in Dodgeball, and He's Just Not That Into You. After the later movie came out, because of his character in the project, he had several women of a certain age coming up to him asking him for advice. He really enjoys that his fans come up to him though, he said 99% of the time it's a really nice encounter and he loves getting to hear from them. Long was also in Alvin and The Chipmunks, he voiced Alvin. He told Bones that he actually recorded his chipmunk voice in his normal voice, just a lot slower than usual. Then it was sped up after his voice work.
