Movie Mike D's Top 5 Horror Movies Rated PG-13

It’s October, all month on Movie Mike’s Movie Podcast. I’m talking about Halloween and scary movies. This week, I shared the best horror movies that are PG-13! A question I get from listeners a lot is "What are good scary movies to watch with my kids?" So these are movies you can watch with your kids...or if you’re just not a fan of anything TOO violent -- perfect for you too!

Here are the Top 5 Horror movies that are rated PG-13!

1. The Ring (2002)

Truly iconic. The movie is about a cursed videotape that causes everyone who watches it to die within 7 days. The lead character explores the mystery behind the film and its history. What to expect? Extreme violence and frequent profanity but stays within the PG-13 Rating.

2. A Quiet Place (2018)

The new modern day monster movie standard. A story about a w family is forced to live their entire lives in silence in a world with creatures who find their prey by sound. One of the best modern day monster movies. What to expect? No sex, nudity, or swearing, but several terrifying and intense scenes.

3. Insidious (2010)

A movie that will give you chills. A couple moves into a new house, only to discover that it is haunted—and that their son is demon-possessed. Mild gore, moderate profanity, but several extremely intense and disturbing scenes. With the suspense and gradually ramped-up intensity, this movie has the feel of an R-rated classic without the gore.

4. Devil (2010)

Five people are trapped in an elevator. One of them is the Devil. Need I say more??? It’s a creepy mysterious movie that will make you want to sleep with the lights on afterwards. What to expect? Rated PG-13 for the extreme violence, but there is also mild swearing and sexual suggestiveness.

5. The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)

It’s something about possession movies that will leave you rattled. A lawyer investigates a priest’s exorcism of a girl that ended in the girl’s death. There are several severely frightening and intense scenes, along with mild swearing.
