TMSG: Liver Donor & Recipient Run New York City Marathon Together

More than four years ago, Dave Kane learned that he had liver cancer. He needed a transplant and his friend Sarah Kate Gillingham stepped up.

Gillingham donated 60% of her liver to her friend. Now, more than four years after the surgery, the two ran the New York City Marathon together. The field had approximately 33,000 people running but these two were there with a special bond.

They ran the marathon to raise money for the American Liver Foundation. The two also wanted to raise awareness about organ donation. So now they share more than a friendship and a liver, they also share a special running bond!
