Abby Performs Guitar Recital After Practicing For 6 Months

Abby Leigh Anderson is an aspiring singer on our show! A few months ago, she recorded and released an original song called “Hey There Hometown,” and performs live around Nashville. She usually would hire someone to play guitar for her while she performs, so Lunchbox suggested she learn how to play so she doesn’t have to keep paying someone.

It’s been six months since she started taking lessons and performed her first rehearsal live on the show today! She bought herself a Taylor G6 mini guitar and has been practicing every day. She was extremely nervous but felt positive! She first performed Megan Moroney’s “Tennessee Orange” and then Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Fishin’ In The Dark.” There were a few hiccups, but she rolled through it and sounded and played great! Abby shared that it’s difficult for her to sing and play at the same time and it took her a while to figure out the strumming, but she’s feeling good about it now.

Amy was very impressed with her performance and proud of her. She also felt motivated and hoped it inspired people to pick up something they’ve always wanted to try. Eddie thought this would get the ball rolling and open many opportunities for her music career. Bobby Bones is proud of her because it took real vulnerability. Lunchbox is glad he was so inspiring that it got her to start taking lessons, but thinks she needs another year before she can play anywhere live.
