Amy Wants To Stop Saying “How Are You” & Has Other Phrase Suggestions

Amy wants to change something she’s done her whole life.

Whenever she’s talking to someone, she’ll greet them with “Hey, how are you?” It’s her default saying, and she wants to stop relying on it. She wants to say other things instead that may add more depth. She looked up a list of phrases to say instead and found:

  • “I’ve been thinking about you.”
  • “How have you been sleeping?”
  • “What’s a favorite thing you did this week?”
  • “What have you been up to this week?”
  • “What did you do today?”
  • “Any special thoughts today?”
  • “I’ve been looking forward to talking to you?”
  • “Anything you’re looking forward to?”
  • “Is there something I can do for you?”
  • “Want to do some self-care together?

Everyone thought these were weird and too invasive to say initially to a random person. They also agreed that if someone greeted them with one of those sayings, they would be caught off guard and not want to talk.
