Austin Tanner is the country artist who was accused of bond violation when he attended the CMA Awards back in November. He called into the Bobby Bones Show to share his side of the story.
Tanner admitted the whole thing was a misunderstanding and he thinks the media blew it out of proportion. There was a court hearing where Tanner had asked the judge to leave the country when he asked to go shoot a movie in the Dominican Republic. The judge told him he couldn't leave the country, however he could leave the state if it was for work. Since this was all said in an open court, Tanner and his attorney thought he was ok to attend the CMA Awards since it was for his job. However, it turns out he would have needed to put in a request for the judge to approve it before leaving, and had he put in the request it would have been approved.
Now he's currently wearing an ankle bracelet that they put on. He shared it took a day or two to get used it, but being an extrovert it's been hard. He doesn't think he can keep it when things are over because they each cost around $1200. Tanner added that he can't get into the details of his case since it's active, but it is all absolutely false and he's looking forward to a full exoneration which he is hoping for soon.
Tanner isn't able to play any shows right now, but hopes to soon. He encouraged people to check out the two charities he is working with now Children's Rescue Initiative and Christian Service Center. You can see more information on his linktree here.
