Bobby Shares Thoughts on the Looming Shutdown of TikTok

The hot topic lately is the looping TikTok ban happening on January 19th. Bobby Bones shared his thoughts on the topic with several listeners asking him to share if he thinks the app will be gone in a few days.

Bones does not think the app TikTok will ever be gone. He thinks the company ByteDance (which owns TikTok) will be sold at some point and he believes that when Donald Trump gets in office there will be some levers pulled to make sure the app stays in the United States. However, Bones was surprised that the Supreme Court voted 5-4 to move forward with the shut down. Bones also noted that Trump has voiced that he wants TikTok to stay and he did ask the Supreme Court to extend the deadline, but that has not happened.

While the company ByteDance is not owned by the Chinese government, it is the belief that every company in China is in service to the Chinese government. There's plenty of apps that are banned in China because of America for similar reasons to America wanting to shut down TikTok. In a summed up version, China can create division in the American people based on what each person loves, especially in political times. It is the belief by many United States politicians that they have the full capability to show Americans anything they what within the algorithms. They also believe that China is collecting data from us and no one knows what they plan to do with it. Bones watched a 60 Minutes special that specifically stated how China has malware in everything in the United States from water systems to our grid so it's possible they can shut everything in our country down with the push of a button.

Despite all of this information, Bones doesn't think the app will go away. He thinks there will ultimately be a resolution and TikTok will stay in the United States.
