Dierks Bentley Shares if He’s Joining the Survivor Cast for New Season

Dierks Bentley stopped by The Bobby Bones Show for the release of his song "She Hates Me."

His song "She Hates Me" was written with famous Nashville songwriters Ashley Gorley and Ross Copperman. Although Bentley liked the song, he didn't plan for it to be his first single from his new project. He really likes his first single to be more serious songs because he sees himself as a serious songwriter, but it's turned out he's the "fun song guy." A similar thing happened with his song "What Was I Thinkin?" where he didn't want it to be his first single, he wanted his song "Wish It Would Break" to come out first.

Despite his new song coming out on Valentine's Day, Bentley isn't a huge fan of the holiday, he thinks it's a Hallmark holiday. At his house, every day is Valentine's Day with his wife. He shared the love story of how they met starting in 8th grade. They had tried to date at one point, but it didn't work. Fast forward to the time he was opening for George Strait in Las Vegas in 2005 and she wanted to come out to the show as a friend, which he welcomed because he loved being around her. He was watching Old School on his bus and she walked on it, as soon as he saw her walk on the bus he knew he was going to marry her one day. He compared that moment to hearing Hank Jr. for the first time and him knowing he was going to be a country singer one day. Then on the day he proposed, he had his wardrobe person come in with a brunch of dresses and told her they were flying to Mexico to elope. It was him, her, the judge, and the judge's interpreter there.

There's been some rumors going around lately about Bentley joining the cast of Survivor, even Lunchbox thought it may really happen. So Bobby Bones asked Bentley straight up if he's going on the show. Bentley said no he's not going, at least not right away. He was posting on social media for his friend whose in Nashville and has been trying out for Survivor for a long time. Then it came into the conversation that he could possibly go on it, but he has a lot going on this year with his album and tour. He has major respect for the people who go onto the show and at some point he would like to do it. He thinks it could be an option in the future. As for activities he's kept up with in his day-to-day life, Bentley is no longer riding his bike, but he is playing hockey with a men's group once a week and playing pickleball. His daughter has a big moment coming up soon, she's going to be singing the National Anthem at the Arkansas versus Vanderbilt game. He admitted he is nervous for her, even though she's done the anthem once before at a high school game. He says that's the one song that is really hard to sing and even he doesn't like to do it. He sang it a few times, but one time at a Nashville Titans game he started it too low and it was a rough moment for him.

Bentley also has a whiskey out now called Row 94 which has 3 ingredients and the truth, a nod to a famous country music song.
