Paris Hilton on Her the Simple Life Character & Testifying Before Congress

Paris Hilton called into the Bobby Bones Show and Bobby Bones was excited to talk to her about all of her ventures including testifying at Congress and her media company's new podcast.

Bones asked why Hilton has pursued so many different ventures. She shared that success and creating have been the driving force behind all of it. She also has ADHA, so she admits she will hyper-focus on things she loves and she has so many different interests so she tries to make the most out of all of them. She was really into drama and art class back when she was in school, and DJing was something that came natural to her and she did have a lot of training it. She has been DJing for over 15 years now, she's proud that people are finally starting to see her as the real deal. She has a podcast studio, recording studio, and a DJ setup at her house so that she can take on all these different projects from her house. Hilton shared the remix she did with Sia on "If The Earth is Spinning" happened after she sent a text. She will just think of someone she wants for a certain song and contact that person asking if they'd be up for a remix. Her favorite song she's done is "Stars Are Blind," it has become such a huge part of her life. She feels like it brings so much happiness to everyone and she will even listen to it all the time. Recently, she did a cover shoot and they played it 10 times or if she ever walks into a club, event or party, they play it as she's coming in. She uses it as the finale song at the end of all of her shows. There's a song that's gone viral on TikTok about Hilton, her friend Jax wrote it about her. The two of them have been friends for several years now after Jax wrote one of the songs on Hilton's last album.

Hilton just launched her 30th fragrance, and marked her 20th year in the fragrance industry. The process has been a lot of fun for her, she will go to the perfumery and small all the different scents and notes. She says she's definitely a pro now and knows which things she wants to put together. On a more serious note, Hilton was just seen testifying on Capitol Hill to Congress. When Bones asked where her courage came from to do so, she admitted that everything she's been through in life has made her a very strong woman. She's done so much research, spoken to many other survivors and feels that she can help be the hero she needed when she was a little girl. She added that helping these young kids gives her all the courage she needs to speak out. This is the person Hilton has always been, but it took her time to be able to speak out about all of the things she went through. Testifying to Congress and being a voice to these kids has been the most healing experience of her life. She feels like with her voice she can shine a huge light so the senators and legislators can't ignore the things that have been happening after years of survivors not seeing any results.

Hilton's next-gen media company 11:11 Media partnered with iHeartPodcasts to release My Friend Daisy: A Murder Solved in DMs. It's a true crime podcast that was inspired by an article in The Cut. It's about a 19-year-old named Daisy who was murdered outside of her apartment. The authorities could not make an artist, so her friends and family turned to TikTok and sparked a viral manhunt that tracked down the killer. Hilton thought it was amazing to see a community come together and use digital activism to see justice done. It's always been important to Hilton to to give a voice to people who don't have one. She recalled hearing from the mother about how much this meant to her that Daisy wasn't forgotten and this man would be held accountable as well as making a stand against domestic violence.

In response to The Simple Life, the show that played a role in Hilton's fame, Bones asked her about the character she portrayed. At the time, Hilton had always looked up to women like Marilyn Monroe and Pamela Anderson who had this baby breathe voice and that's where she created her "airhead-type" voice from. The producers wanted Nicole to be the trouble maker on the show and Paris to be the airhead, so the voice was perfect. Hilton admitted growing up with so much abuse and trauma she feels like when she was offered the role, she wanted to create this barbie, perfect life out of the character. That character has been part of her life for so long, but it's not who she is, she was just playing a character and she was just really good at pretending to be a "dumb blonde." It wasn't until her documentary This Is Paris where she started talking about everything she went through. That's when people got to really see her, who she really was, and that there's way more to her.
