God’s Country hosts Dan and Reid Isbell joked that it’s “too hot to podcast” as they shared one country song they wish they’d written.
The brothers and songwriters were delivering a rendition of “Too Cold at Home,” the title track of Beaumont, Texas-born country star Mark Chesnutt’s 10-track studio album that released in 1990. Dan and Reid Isbell sang the lyrics, “It's too hot to fish, and too hot for golf/ And too cold at home,” and added that it’s “definitely too hot to podcast this week, in a studio without AC, but here we are.”
“This week you’re getting a Bro Pod out in God’s Country. Reid and Dan take this episode to answer some fan questions and dive deeper into their songwriting journey. They share some of the vulnerable highs and lows that they’ve experienced, while keeping their faith at the center of their lives. In a few months they are going elk hunting out west, so they share what they’re doing to prep for that, and Reid shares his dream hunt.”
Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Scotty McCreery, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast in early January 2024. Some of the first guests to appear on the show include HARDY, Dustin Lynch, Colbie Caillat and others.
“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”
