Lunchbox’s Dream of Getting on The Price Is Right Comes to an End

Every morning, millions of people listen to Lunchbox entertain them on the radio. But this time, he wanted to flip the script and be the one entertained, by The Price Is Right. Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite as he imagined.

In his head, it was going to be an epic moment, showing up, bringing the energy, and hearing his name called to “come on down!” But as he admitted, the transition from entertainer to hopeful contestant didn’t land as smoothly as he thought. After not getting picked on day one, he was definitely concerned. The room was so loud that he could barely hear anything over the excited screams of the audience. He kept his hopes up though, ready for day two. When the third taping rolled around, he started to worry again. The first five names called weren’t his. Then the seventh person called was sitting right in front of him. That’s when he knew it wasn’t happening, not that day, anyway. He stood out in his tux among a sea of graphic tees and homemade shirts, but still, no luck.

By day three, Lunchbox was just ready to hear his name, any time, any round, he didn’t care. But when the ninth and final person was called and it wasn’t him, reality hit hard. He sat there for another 30 minutes, completely bummed. Part of the sting was not just losing the chance to play but also knowing he’d have to return home and admit to everyone that he didn’t make it. He even joked that they should make a documentary on the producers of game shows to learn what it really takes to get on and what makes them pass on certain people.

He noticed that some of the contestants who did get called weren’t even that entertaining. “They didn’t have rizz,” he said. Amy felt genuinely sad for him, knowing how much this meant. Lunchbox learned the hard truth: sometimes your dreams get crushed, and there’s no such thing as a sure thing. Still, he doesn’t regret trying. Bobby reminded him that you’ll always regret the things you don’t try more than the ones you fail at. And Lunchbox stands by that, he’d go back tomorrow if they’d let him. He didn’t even get to meet Drew Carey. Once the show ends, the audience is quickly shuffled out. He said some people still seemed excited afterward, but by that point, he just wanted to leave

For now, his The Price Is Right journey is over, but who knows what’s next? Lunchbox will be in the televised audience on the March 1st and April 2nd episodes.
