Lunchbox Calls 911 After Finding Abandoned Crash Scene

Lunchbox called 911 (again) after discovering what he described as a suspicious crash scene while driving with his family.

He was traveling eastbound with his wife and children when he noticed a damaged vehicle sitting sideways in the westbound lanes across the median. According to Lunchbox, the car had a broken axle, its windshield wipers were still running despite clear weather, and the rear passenger-side door was hanging open while blocking part of the roadway. Lunchbox said the scene immediately felt strange and alarming because no one appeared to be stopping to help. As traffic continued driving around the damaged car, he became concerned that something more serious had happened. His first thought was that someone may have been shot inside the vehicle before fleeing the scene. The open rear door made him wonder if someone in the backseat had escaped after an attack.

After deciding the situation looked dangerous, Lunchbox made a U-turn and called 911. He informed dispatchers about the wrecked vehicle and explained that he did not know whether anyone was still inside. According to Lunchbox, the dispatcher then asked him to physically check the vehicle for occupants. He got out of his car, approached the wrecked vehicle, and discovered that no one was inside. The abandoned car still had its windshield wipers running and remained partially blocking traffic near a highway entrance ramp. He gave the dispatcher details about the vehicle, including its make and license plate number. Concerned another accident could happen, Lunchbox decided to position his own vehicle in the lane to shield the wrecked car from oncoming traffic while waiting for police to arrive. His wife and children remained inside the car during the incident.

Bobby questioned whether keeping his family inside a vehicle blocking traffic was safe, but Lunchbox believed staying inside with the flashers activated was the safest option available. While they waited, Lunchbox said drivers continued approaching the crash scene and honking, seemingly unaware the damaged vehicle was disabled and abandoned. Eventually, a state trooper arrived and asked whether Lunchbox had been the driver involved in the accident. Lunchbox explained that he had simply come across the scene and stopped because he believed someone might be injured or in danger. The officer thanked Lunchbox for being a “good citizen” and took over the scene from there.

Lunchbox admitted that hearing the compliment made him feel proud, especially because he believed he may have prevented another crash by blocking traffic until authorities arrived. The show then discussed theories about what may have happened to the abandoned vehicle. Lunchbox speculated that it could have been a stolen car that crashed before the occupants fled the scene. Everyone agreed the situation absolutely justified a 911 call, especially given the dangerous roadway conditions and uncertainty surrounding the missing driver.
