Bobby Helps Strangers With Student Loans, Trips, & Tattoos

Bobby continues his ongoing "Giving Tuesday" tradition, explaining that it originally began as a way to change his relationship with social media.

Rather than focusing on negative comments and direct messages, Bones decided to spend one day each week looking for opportunities to help people who reached out to him. Reading through messages often left him feeling frustrated, so he started searching for people he could assist instead. During the latest Giving Tuesday, he selected three individuals and shared their stories with the show. The first recipient was a woman named Amber, who had reached out regarding student loan debt. Bones chose to help her by paying off approximately one-quarter of her student loan balance. While he avoided sharing many personal details, he explained that her request was straightforward and easy to understand so he was able to make it happen.

Bones then shared the story of a couple who own a small cleaning business. According to their message, they had stepped in to help care for two young nieces during a difficult period in the children's lives. The family had already planned and largely paid for a trip to Disney, but they hoped to add a visit to Nintendo World and needed additional help to make it happen. After hearing their story, Bones purchased tickets to Nintendo World for the family. That choice made Lunchbox question whether families should pursue expensive experiences if they cannot afford them on their own. He argued that if Nintendo World was outside the family's budget, they should simply skip that part of the trip. Amy disagreed, pointing out that the family had already planned the Disney vacation and was not asking for help with the entire trip. Instead, they were seeking assistance with one additional experience for the children. She also emphasized the family's willingness to care for their nieces during a challenging time.

The final story involved a listener who admired a tattoo Bones has of the state of Arkansas. The man said he had always wanted a similar state-themed tattoo but had struggled to convince his wife that the expense was worthwhile. He asked whether Bones would consider helping with the cost so he decided to pay for the tattoo. Amy found the situation funny and suggested that the wife may have been using the cost as a reason to delay the tattoo, but now the husband was receiving it.
