Bobby Bones and his fiancé Caitlin made their first national TV appearance together on Running Wild With Bear Grylls.
The show started out with them riding on a four wheeler style car to meet Bear. When they were all together they jumped on a helicopter to get to their starting point, but rather than riding in the helicopter they rode via the ladder basically dangling. Their mission during the episode was to help local officials with wildlife population by placing game cameras over a specific area of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. During several moments of the show they had to rappel down various rock formations which was difficult for each of them as they're not fans of heights. Particularly the last rappel they had to do as it was a 200ft drop to the bottom. When they went down for the night, they made camp underneath a rock and boiled snails for dinner.
Perhaps the biggest things that listeners took away from the episode were about their relationship rather than the adventure itself. Bones recalled at the beginning of the episode that the last time he was on Running Wild with Bear Grylls, he didn't believe love was a real thing. However, a little over a year later he's back on the show with his fiancé Caitlin. For Caitlin, she admitted that life has changed for her drastically in the last year and a half. She has always wanted to be a private person, but now being in the public eye she's dealing with a lot of people's random opinions about her and placing labels on her without knowing who she is. Despite the struggles, the two are madly in love with one another. Bear believes that Caitlin is the best thing that's ever happened to Bobby, and perhaps this relationship is where Bobby's life actually begins. Caitlin shared during the episode that she hopes for some changes in the future. She loves Bones aspirations, but she wants him to find his worth in other things rather than just his career like he has his whole life. When they asked for some marriage advice, Bear told them both they had a beautiful life ahead of them, and to put their energy and time into things that are real.
There was a lot of emotions shared during the episode, Caitlin teared up when they were talking about their relationship with Grylls around the campfire. Then there was their last feat, rappelling down the 200ft rocky cliff that made Caitlin cry because she had never done something like that before. However, listeners got to see Bones cheering her on and supporting her during such a difficult moment.
The show ended with Bear gifting them a sweet wedding gift that also documented the episode. It was a compass, with some sweet marital words engraved on it.
